Although I work for Grand Canyon, I do not live within park
bounds as most of the park staff does. I
am stationed at the Flagstaff office, which is about 80 miles away. Living in Flagstaff has a lot of perks
relative to the park including an Episcopal church, multiple grocery stores,
many other retail stores, yoga studios and the list goes on. However, it can be challenging to get a
sense of park operations living outside, so we try to get up to Grand Canyon as
often as we can for work and fun.
Wednesday June 27 was one of those days. In between meetings with park staff,
Laurel, Jay and I were able to squeeze in a lunch break in Grand Canyon Village
to take in the view from the South Rim. Although is the place I work, it's natural beauty has yet to escape my attention.
